I was given the short story “BlueBeard” to illustrate in the style for a children’s book. I was tasked with taking a paragraph or two from the story and to illustrate the scene.

Despite the story being rather morbid, it was an interesting challenge to use a more whimsical art style for my illustration.

I purposely made the shadows and door on the left side of the image shades of blue to link back to the namesake of the story.
