Berenice Abbott - “Capturing Structures”
This is a book consisting of multiple chapters about the life and art of Berenice Abbott: a photographer from New York City who specialized in architectural photography among other subject matter.
I went simplistic for the cover as I wanted the complexity of her photography that I showcase in the book to shine above all else. I also made sure to integrate the intense red I used to silhouette the New York Skyline throughout the book as chapter headers and supplementary texts.
The one spread that is nothing but text is featured purely because I utilized a typography setting-style called an “extended quotation". This means it is a paragraph or so of type that is nothing but direct words from someone within the narrative, in this case it being Berenice Abbott herself.
*Please note that this is purely a student project and not directly affiliated with the artist featured.
